Early Season Success for Walker Family
LEADING showman Robert Walker and his family have had a fantastic start to the 2019 season with a host of wins and championships already achieved.Robert’s son Sam was in superlative form at the BSPS Winter Championships at Arena UK, with the Intermediate bay gelding, Killaraa Brilliant, winning the coveted Novice Championships for owner Jill Day at just four-years-old.The Walker’s TopSpec fed team of horses continued their early season winning ways at Royal Windsor Horse Show with a host of successes. The five-year-old Lightweight Hunter, Sommerville Lad secured the prestigious Novice Championship to add to his earlier success at North of England Spring in April.Originally produced in Ireland by PJ Casey, the stunning bay took the Supreme Ridden Hunter Championship at Dublin last year before being bought by Jill Day for the Walker yard.By Emperor Augustus, Sommerville Lad has been fed on TopSpec in both countries with PJ and Robert supported by the leading feed company for many years.Said Robert: "We liked him when we saw him at Dublin and asked for first refusal. He arrived just before Christmas and we are delighted with his progress."He is a natural showman and has already qualified for the Royal International. Our plan is to run him in a few HOYS qualifiers but we will take our time with him. "Sommerville Lad has his own TopSpec feed regime of TopSpec Comprehensive Feed Balancer, Linseed Mash, UlsaKind Cubes and TopChop Sport to keep him looking in top form.Robert’s Royal Windsor success continued with the multi-award winning Lightweight Hunter, Viewpoint, heading the coveted Hunter Championships for the second year running while the Heavyweight Hunter, Patrick’s Choice also won his division.Another Dublin champion, MHS Morning Master won the four-year-old class while the show was rounded off with a win in the Large Riding Horse class and Reserve Championship for Robert on Southhills the Sorcerer.Adds Robert: "Royal Windsor was a fantastic show for the team and all the horses looked fantastic so early in the season thanks to their TopSpec feed regimes.”
