COTTINGHAMbased rider Maria Brocklesby and Dativ XL won the unaffiliated TopSpec Move Up Championship held at Fry’s East Yorkshire.Sponsored by TopSpec, the Move Up (Novice, Elementary and Medium) series has been running throughout the winter and spring with qualifiers held at Snainton, Bishop Burton and Sheepgate. The aim of the series is to help horse and rider combinations to move up a competition level in line with affiliated dressage rules.Maria and her seven-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding, also known as Dave, by San Remo qualified for the finals with a number of wins in series through the winter months and took the championship with a score of 71.90%.Said Maria: "It was a great set up to be able to help riders move up to the next level and still compete at an unaffiliated level."Dave has been on good form and I am over the moon with his performances in the TopSpec Move Up series. To win the championship was fantastic and I am really impressed with the TopSpec Joint Feed Balancer we received from the qualifiers."Since using the feed during the winter months, Dave is looking fantastic on it and his topline has developed nicely. It has now become part of his daily diet.”Maria is hoping to step up a level and aim for the Regional qualifiers at Elementary level and the Elementary Freestyle to music.
