DERBYSHIRE-based Amy Platts is the winner of the prestigious 2012 TopSpec Show Jumping Scholarship.Amy (22) originally started out in showing with much success at top level including qualifications for the Royal International Horse Show and Horse of the Year Show.When moving on to 148cm Amy decided to take up the reins in the show jumping arena having much success in Home Pony Internationals.Competing at senior level, Amy started to compete the well established mare, Oakwood Georgia, at Small Open level and is now looking to concentrate on producing the six-year-old Caramac Clover and five-year-old Whisper Wood Overdraft.Said Amy: "I am delighted to have won this year’s TopSpec Scholarship. I already feed TopSpec and to have nutritional help and advice from them is a huge bonus."To have good quality nutrition and the correct feed regimes for our horses is part and parcel of developing a good team and this season my youngsters will really benefit from the expertise at TopSpec."Amy’s prizes include £500 worth of TopSpec feed, £500 to be spent on show jumping training with an accredited trainer and £500 worth of TopSpec horse and rider clothing."The aim is to move the two youngsters up to foxhunter level over the next couple of seasons. The training bursary will be invaluable and I hope to be able to take up more lessons with a top accredited coach to help produce these young prospects,” she added.
